Market Overview

There are 120 million homes and businesses in the US, 20% are alarmed. A large percentage of those are monitored wirelessly as market trends, technologies and pricing make wireless monitoring more attractive.

There are two primary customer groups with a need for the AES-IntelliNet wireless mesh network solution.

Central Monitoring Alarm Dealer - Alarm Dealers typically provide 24 X 7 monitoring services to residential and commercial users of intrusion and fire alarms. In the life safety market including  fire & security alarm monitoring there is a need to be alerted quickly and reliably. Alarm signals have typically been communicated by telephone company wire line, cellular or private wireless communications services to monitor customer's alarms at the alarm monitoring central station. However many needs have emerged which can be solved by wireless mesh networks offered by AES-intelliNet:

  •  Increase revenue by collecting the alarm communications revenue in addition to the alarm monitoring revenue.
  •  Protect customers against line cuts and failures.
  •  Provide faster response to alarms by avoiding "dial-up" time.
  •  Assure reliability of communications by having multiple communication paths.
  •  Deliver new revenue generating services from one wireless network investment.
  •  Install service immediately to gain Certificate of Occupancy for new buildings.
  • Confirm receipt of alarm with 2-way communication.

Proprietary Users - Proprietary Users are entities such as municipalities, large corporations, military bases and universities, which have a number of alarms to monitor in their network of buildings. Rather than contract with an Alarm Dealer (above), they monitor with their own 24 X 7 security office.

These customer groups have the need to:

  • Reduce their operating budgets by eliminating monthly communications charges
  • Reducing operation and maintenance costs.
  • Avoid the significant cost of digging and trenching required by wired solutions.
