What is the difference between AES-IntelliNet and conventional radio
technology?
Other private radio systems rely on repeater/tower technology to
operate. This creates additional cost to the system operator for
ongoing lease and maintenance contracts. Also, towers and repeaters
have the potential for single point / single path failure: if a
tower goes down, many subscribers will be out of service. In contrast,
AES-IntelliNet provides multiple paths and each subscriber unit
can adapt to changes in the system.
2.
What is the difference between AES-IntelliNet and cellular/control
channel technology?
- There are no recurring fees in the operator
owned AES-IntelliNet system.
- The AES-IntelliNet system owner controls the
system. There is no waiting for a cellular or radio provider to
get coverage in a targeted area. Further, company and customer
data are not divulged to any third parties.
- AES-IntelliNet is listed for use for UL-AA burglary
and NFPA 72 compliant for fire alarm monitoring.
- Radio signals are conveyed through the AES-IntelliNet
system in a matter of a few seconds. Signals sent through the
cellular-based channel and telephone lines take substantially
longer.
3.
What is the range of the radio?
AES-IntelliNet systems can grow to cover thousands of square miles,
thanks to the patented AES store and forward technology.
The range from one radio to the next depends on antenna location,
building structures and terrain. Typical range for a radio with
the smallest antenna is 3 to 8 miles. Range for a higher gain antenna
on a rooftop or in an attic is typically 10 to 25 miles.
It is important to note that range is not the only factor, and that
AES-intelliNet allows every radio to have multiple paths by which
to send alarm messages.
4.
What alarm panels are compatible with AES radio subscriber units?
All alarm panels are compatible with AES transceivers. There is
a wide range of interface options:
- There are direct "zone" inputs on every AES-intelliNet
transceiver unit.
- The AES-IntelliTAP dialer receiver module, an
option for most AES-Intellinet transceiver units, "reads" the
digital dialer output of many types of alarm panel and conveys
the information by radio.
- "FDX" (full data transfer) modules are provided
by some panel manufacturers that create a data link from alarm
panel to radio communicator.
5.
I don't own a central station - can I offer radio monitoring to
my customers?
Yes! You can install an AES radio receiver at your location to anchor
a radio network in your area. Using the AES EZ-Router you can forward
the radio signals via telephone line in digital dialer format to
any contract alarm monitoring station.
6.
I own a central station - can I create radio coverage in locations
outside my area?
Yes! You can install an AES radio receiver in the remote area and
use the AES Multi-Net to forward the signals back to your location
via telephone line in digital dialer format.
7.
What is the difference between one way and two-way radio?
Private radio monitoring systems often use one-way technology, AES-IntelliNet
is two-way. Two-way signals are acknowledged and confirmed, one-way
signals are not.
8.
What is the cost of the system?
- AES-IntelliNet systems are operator-owned. There
are no recurring fees charged to the dealer, creating cost savings
for the system operator and consumers. Also, no expensive tower
sites or dedicated repeaters are needed (every AES radio is a
repeater), further cutting those recurring expenses.
- When the AES-IntelliNet is used to replace dedicated
telephone lines for alarm reporting the savings can be substantial
and immediate.
- Using the lease option, system owners can operate
on a positive cash flow with only a small number of customers.
- The AES Master Dealer Program provides substantial
discounts for growth-minded AES system operators.
